Why Save the Homies?
Save the Homies was born out of love for our community, our culture, and our future. We're here to elevate Black men's health as a national priority. Through awareness campaigns, culturally relevant education, storytelling, and advocacy, we're breaking down the barriers that keep too many of us from getting the care we deserve.
We believe in meeting people where they are—at the barbershop, at the gym, in the group chat, and in the community. Let’s talk about it, get screened, and take our health seriously.
[Prostate Cancer Awareness Project]
The First Fight: Prostate Cancer
Black men are twice as likely to die from prostate cancer as white men. That’s not biology—that’s access, awareness, and systemic neglect.
Our first initiative is focused on shining a light on prostate cancer through:
- Community events & free screenings
- A Save the Homies documentary series
- Policy advocacy to expand access to screenings
- Storytelling that centers Black men’s lived experiences
We’re not here to scare you—we’re here to equip you. To show you that early detection can mean more time. More laughs. More legacy.
[Policy & Advocacy]
This Isn’t Just About Health. It’s About Justice.
Right now, too many men can’t access or afford simple cancer screenings. That’s unacceptable.
We're working with policymakers, health systems, and community leaders to:
- Remove financial barriers to prostate cancer screenings
- Ensure culturally competent care for Black men
- Mandate earlier education and intervention
Policy saves lives. We’re not just raising awareness—we’re demanding action.
